Strawberry Hibiscus Sauce
Ingredients
3T water2 Hibiscus tea bags*
1 lb. strawberries - chopped into ¼inch pieces¼C sugar (50g)1T lemon juice (more to taste)zest of 1 lemonzest of ½ an orange (optional, but yummy)1T cornstarch Directions1. In a small glass measure beaker (or other small microwaveable container that is taller than wider) heat 3 T of water to just bubbling. Add 2 teabags and use a small whisk, spoon, etc to keep the teabags submerged for about 5 minutes. Once steeped, remove the teabags, squeezing as much liquid as possible back into the cup as you remove them. 2. In a small sauce pan, combine the tea water with the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring often. Let simmer until the sauce thickens, again, stirring often. 3. Cool a bit. Serve warm or room temp over vanilla ice cream, froyo, etc. Also good cold. Notes *There are lots of wonderful hibiscus teas out there. Some are more plain and others have lots of extra essences (like orange, apple, etc). Use whatever you like. I use Republic of Tea Hibiscus w/strawberry. Credits: I'm pretty sure I found a recipe similar to this somewhere on the internet... but a search doesn't turn up anything the same. So maybe I changed it quite bit. However, if this is your recipe, please contact me so I can give the appropriate credit! Tags: Original Post Date: 5/22/22
